Redwood

When a project offers limited planting space, containers are the way to grow. This townhome courtyard’s quiet neutral walls and hard surfaces provided the ideal blank slate for a collection of ocean-inspired pots filled with sculptural cactus, succulents and leafy, waterwise shrubs. Just inside the entry gate, a compact corner planting bed greets the eye with Alstroemeria ‘Indian Summer,’ Fatsia japonica, Podocarpus ‘Roman Candle,’ Lomandra ‘Platinum Beauty,’ and two varieties of Plectranthus. Occasional watering and a once-a-month maintenance visit keep it all easily looking pristine.
